Key Responsibilities

As Country Lead Procurement, the successful candidate will be responsible for driving the strategic direction and operational performance of procurement functions across the Coca-Cola Kwanza network. Your responsibilities will include:

1. Procurement Strategy & Vision

  • Define and implement procurement goals aligned with Coca-Cola Beverages Africa (CCBA) headquarters.

  • Translate high-level goals into operational procurement targets and best practices at the country level.

2. Stakeholder Engagement & Leadership

  • Participate in CCBA’s Group Office (GO) Procurement Leadership Team and contribute to group-wide decisions.

  • Collaborate with category teams and internal stakeholders to design category strategies.

  • Promote intra- and inter-country collaboration to streamline procurement execution.

3. Team Management & Capability Building

  • Lead the local procurement team by applying Coca-Cola’s leadership principles.

  • Manage direct reports through performance appraisals, target setting, and career development.

  • Develop procurement capabilities and implement structured training and mentorship programs.

4. Policy Compliance & Risk Management

  • Assess and adapt to changing local, regional, and global procurement policies.

  • Align country-level operations with CCBA procurement policies, especially in areas such as legal contracting and governance.

  • Ensure all procurement activities comply with internal policies and supplier regulations.

5. Sourcing & Contracting

  • Lead strategic sourcing in critical areas such as:

    • Maintenance, Repair, and Operations (MRO)

    • Marketing and Sales services

    • Professional services

  • Negotiate supplier contracts to deliver value, improve service, and reduce Total Cost of Ownership (TCO).

  • Maintain a robust and updated contract repository.

6. Supplier Management

  • Classify and evaluate suppliers based on performance and compliance.

  • Conduct regular supplier performance reviews and define improvement plans.

  • Establish long-term partnerships that promote sustainability, innovation, and cost reduction.

7. Budgeting & Cost Efficiency

  • Prepare and manage the procurement budget.

  • Monitor procurement Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and cost-saving targets.

  • Develop annual budgets using forecasts for commodities provided by GO procurement teams.

8. Communication & Governance

  • Represent procurement in key forums and contribute to governance discussions.

  • Ensure clear and continuous communication of procurement plans and updates with stakeholders.

  • Support implementation of Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and escalation frameworks.

Required Qualifications

To be considered for this role, candidates must meet the following qualifications:

Educational Background:

  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree for the Country Lead Procurement in:

    • Finance

    • Supply Chain

    • Engineering

  • Additional qualifications are an added advantage:

    • Recognized Procurement Certification (e.g., CIPS, CPSM)

    • Master’s Degree in Business, Finance, or Supply Chain

Work Experience:

  • A minimum of 8 years of progressive leadership experience in procurement, preferably in the FMCG industry.
