About the RMNCAH Unit
- Reproductive, Maternal, Neonatal, Child, and Adolescent Health (RMNCAH) is of paramount importance globally and holds special significance for the African continent.
- The organization’s mission is to ensure that every person in Africa enjoys the right to health and well-being.
- Amref’s work encompasses a broad range of health interventions, with a particular focus on Reproductive, Maternal, Neonatal, Child, and Adolescent Health (RMNCAH).
- As part of this unit’s mandate, we are dedicated to research, analysis, policy engagement, and advocacy aimed at equipping stakeholders and countries where Amref has a presence across the continent with practical insights and strategies for achieving targeted RMNCAH indices.
Job Purpose
The RMNCAH unit is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic intern to join its team. The intern will play a crucial role in supporting the various initiatives aimed at advancing the strategic direction for RMNCAH aligns with Sustainable Development Goals and the broader health agenda. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals interested in public health, policy, and research analysis, and healthcare systems strengthening to gain practical experience and contribute to the RMNCAH in Africa.
Major Responsibilities:
- Research and Analysis: Conduct research on various aspects of RMNCAH, including health systems strengthening, policy development, innovative approaches, and service delivery Analyze data and contribute to the creation of evidence-based resources.
- Knowledge Generation: Assist in producing knowledge products such as policy briefs, blogs, articles, case studies, and presentations. Help in translating complex research findings into accessible formats for diverse stakeholders.
- Knowledge Management: Support the RMNCAH unit with collecting strategies and policy documents, updating existing platforms, attending meetings, and contributing to strategic discussions.
- Advocacy Support: Contribute to advocacy efforts by assisting in the development of advocacy materials and communication strategies to promote activities both in the RMNCAH and Health Systems Strengthening Directorate
- Collaboration: Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams within the directorate and across the organization to integrate different perspectives into RMNCAH-related projects.
- Event Participation: Participate (and where applicable support organize) workshops, webinars, and conferences related to RMNCAH and health system strengthening
- HSS Directorate: Support in Strategy alignment, technical assistance, and evidence generation and dissemination initiatives in the health system strengthening directorate.
Qualifications, Experience, and Skills
- A Bachelor’s Degree / Diploma in public health, health policy, international development,or a related field is highly desirable.
- Strong interest in and understanding of RMNCAH/SRHR, health systems strengthening, and global and regional health issues in African contexts.
- Excellent research and analytical skills, with the ability to synthesize complex information and communicate it effectively.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a diverse team and adapt to a dynamic working environment
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software
- Proactive, self-motivated, and able to manage multiple tasks and
- Knowledge of African health systems, policies, and development challenges is
