About the Role

Sun King is seeking a Regional Collections Manager to oversee field collections and recoveries for our Clean Cooking Pay-As-You-Go (PAYG) LPG business in Tanzania.

You will be responsible for minimizing financial losses by ensuring effective collections, recovering overdue accounts, and leading asset repossession when necessary. This role combines field operations, credit risk management, and customer engagement to improve repayment rates and ensure sustainable business growth.

Key Responsibilities

Debt Collection & Recovery

• Lead field-based collections campaigns and promotions to drive repayment performance.

• Follow up with overdue clients through calls, SMS, on-site visits, and negotiations.

• Execute strategies for asset recovery (e.g., LPG cylinders and equipment) from non-paying customers.

• Partner with the sales team to optimize field collection structures and improve recoveries.

Skip Tracing & Problem Solving

• Locate hard-to-reach debtors using the last known address or alternative contact methods.

• Handle customer concerns professionally, identifying repayment barriers and proposing solutions.

• Escalate fraudulent activities, high-risk accounts, or unresolved cases to the PAYG LPG Credit Manager.

Performance Monitoring & Reporting

• Track recovery KPIs and provide insights on repayment trends.

• Prepare regular reports on collections progress, asset recovery, and improvement initiatives.

• Conduct investigations into missing assets or customer defaults and recommend corrective actions.

Compliance & Governance

• Ensure all collection activities align with Sun King policies, Tanzanian credit regulations, and consumer protection laws.

• Maintain ethical practices and safeguard customer dignity while executing repossessions.

Candidate Profile

Academic Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in credit management, business administration, finance, or a related field.

Work Experience

• Minimum 3+ years’ experience in field-based debt collections, recoveries, or asset repossession.

• Prior exposure to PAYG models, microfinance, or asset leasing is a strong advantage.

• Proven track record in improving collections performance in emerging markets.

Skills & Attributes

• Strong knowledge of credit risk and field operations.

• Proficiency in MS Office tools (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).

• Excellent negotiation, communication, and problem-solving skills.

• Ability to manage and motivate field teams to deliver results.

• Comfortable working in rural and peri-urban markets.
