The South African National Roads Agency SOC Limited is pleased to invite applications for its Scholarship Programme to help young learners who would like to grow their skills and achieve success. The scholarship is open to all qualified individuals in South Africa.
The scholarship program was developed to give financial support to South African learners at registered South African schools from Grade 08 to Grade 12, irrespective of their subject choices. This aims at creating future talents and leaders in the country.
Costs Covered
The SANRAL scholarship covers:
School fees and boarding school fees
School and sports uniforms
Books and stationery
Reputable school Transport
Extra lessons (Only Maths and Science)
Registration
Access to the Wellness Programme.
Eligibility Criteria
Qualification Criteria
To qualify, you must:
Be a South African citizen
Be registered at an endorsed South African school
Be applying for grades 8 to 12
Meet a minimum overall academic average of 60%
Have a total household income of less than R550,000 per year
Complete an online application in full and upload all the necessary supporting documents that are required.
Learners with disabilities are encouraged to apply.

From your parents
From your (2 pages): Tell them about yourself and explain why you would like to receive a SANRAL scholarship.
From your school
Certified Document Copies:
Your June academic results
Your ID document or birth certificate (you must be a South African citizen)
ID documents of your parents/legal guardian.

Please note, SANRAL does NOT charge a fee for its bursary and Scholarships application.
The South African National Roads Agency SOC Limited (SANRAL) is responsible for building and maintaining national roads across the country. We also offer a limited number of scholarship awards to help young learners who would like to grow their skills and achieve success.
The scholarship programme was developed to give financial support to South African learners at registered South African schools from Grade 08 to Grade 12, irrespective of their subject choices.

Important Note: Our educational funding awards are limited, and the number of applications typically exceeds the available awards. We will only be in contact with successful applicants. If you have not received feedback by 31 January 2026, please consider your application unsuccessful.
Due to the high volume of applications received, we are unable to provide feedback on individual applications as part of our process. Therefore, no further individual communication on the matter will be sent out.
